Leo Guerrero founded Vinos of Uruguay in 2023 after at return trip to Uruguay inspired him to share the beautiful culture of small production, boutique wines from his families home land in Uruguay with his new home in Australia. Leo, is the son of immigrants from Uruguay. A veteran of the Sydney food and beverage scene Leo realised that Australia was missing out on the distinct flavours of his home land as Uruguay remains overshadowed in size and production by Argentina, Chile & Brazil and so far the beautiful European style wines, grown with new world technology by small family businesses had rarely reached to Australian shores.
Leo selected Bodega Bouza and Cerro del Torro as the first wineries due to their incredible quality, suberb selection, reputation, wine awards, reviews and accrediations. In just these two wineries Leo found easy drinking blends and variatals all the way to premium reserve limited edition single origin bottles. Uruguayan wines offer something for all palates, for all families and for all food pairings and these two wineries combined offer a perfect introduction to the region.
